Psalms 112:5

The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth. Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee. Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts. If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.

For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail; Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof; (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb;) If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation? The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered. The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field. And thou shalt have goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
