Job 12:2

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass’s colt.

Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?

And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.

For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.

I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom. But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment. Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion. Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say. Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words: Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.

Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers: (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:) Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
